This information is provided to give you a brief overview of services and regulations within the City of Minnesota Lake.

Utility Bills from the City of Minnesota Lake include water and sewer. Estimated bills are sent out monthly. Twice a year meters are read (January and July) and the March and September billing reflects actual water and sewer usage.

Refuse Pickup is on Thursdays. It may begin as early as 7:00 am. Please have garbage bags on the curb by that time. Garbage bags are available at the City Office and at Food and Fuel at a cost of $22.50 per package of 10. A citywide clean up is held each fall for larger items such as appliances. A nominal fee is charged for each item.

Recycling Curbside pickup is available on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. Rural residents drop off center is located on the south side of the City Maintenance Building located at 229 Park Street.  For more information, contact the City Office.

Compost is available at the compost site on Cemetery Road.  This area is available for garden materials, leaves, and tree branches that are 4 inches in diameter or smaller.  Please note the signs in regard to where to dump compost material. Curbside pickup is available following storms, by contacting the city maintenance workers at 462-3245 or the City Office.  Leaf burning is allowed from Sept. 15th to Dec. 15th. From 3:00pm -9:00pm.

Building Permits are necessary for all outside structure changes.  Please contact the city office before you begin any project to see if a permit is required. The City Council must approve all permits before projects begin.  A $25.00 fine is levied if a permit is not purchased prior to beginning a project.

Sump Pumps shall have a discharge pipe. The pumps must not discharge into the city waste sewer. 

Curfew for children under 16 years of age is 10:00pm. Juveniles 16 and 17 must be home by 11:00 pm.  This is a countywide curfew. Please contact the Minnesota Lake Police Department if you have questions regarding curfew.

Roller Blading, Roller-Skating – is not allowed on Main Street or on the boardwalk in the Old Mill Park Please contact the Minnesota Lake Police Department for full details.

Dogs must be licensed in Minnesota Lake. The fee is $7.50 for a 1st time license and $5.00 for a renewal: and the owner must provide proof of rabies vaccination for each animal. Licenses must be renewed each year.

Winter Parking No parking is allowed on Main Street and the surrounding streets from November 15th to April 15thbetween the hours of 1:00am and 6:00am. Please check with the City Office for details.

Snow Removal Snow must be removed from public sidewalks within 24 hours.

Junk Motor Vehicle It is unlawful to park, store, or leave a junk motor vehicle within the city. Vehicles must have current license tags and be operational.

Dynamic Engine Brake or Jake Brakes is unlawful in Minnesota Lake.

Weeds No parcel of land shall have noxious weeds greater than a height of 8 inches.

Snowmobile and Four Wheeler Regulations Please check with the City Office or the police department regarding use of snowmobiles and four wheelers within the city limits.

Personal Property Taxes are due on May 15th and October 15th of each year.

City Council meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.  All council meetings are posted on the bulletin board in the entry to the City Office in the Lembke Building on Main Street.

Festag the town’s annual celebration is held in July.  The dates for the 55th annual event in 2007 are July 10 & 11. Volunteer help is needed for this celebration.  Please sign up to help when and where you are able.
